Marketing, Publicity & Sales Coordinator

Part-time independent contractor, hourly (8–12 hours per week) | Fully remote — work from anywhere | Greater Nashville Area residency is a plus for occasional in-person meetings, bookstore visits, and events, but is not required.

Company Vision

Oaks Press is an independent publisher of faith-based books. We partner closely with our authors to bring meaningful titles to market, and we exist to serve the church with books that help readers grow in their faith. Every campaign we run is built on genuine relationships — with authors, churches, ministry leaders, and readers.

Why Work with Oaks Press?

  • We serve the church with high-quality books and campaigns we’re proud of.
  • We value innovation, creativity, and excellence.
  • We work with authors and partners who are passionate about their message.
  • We foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • We actively leverage cutting-edge publishing methods and AI-assisted workflows — with human judgment always in the driver’s seat.

Position Overview

As a growing press, we are looking for a part-time Marketing, Publicity & Sales Coordinator who can own the day-to-day marketing, publicity, and sales work behind several concurrent book launches — each with its own audience, timeline, and goals. This is a hands-on role that is equal parts relational and administrative: one hour you may be on the phone with a church leader arranging a bulk partnership order; the next you may be drafting our weekly newsletter, placing a manual order, or adding a coupon code to our website. You will report directly to the publisher and work from established campaign playbooks that define the outreach pools, metrics, and follow-up standards for each launch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple author campaigns at once — marketing, publicity, and sales — keeping each launch moving against its goals and timelines using our campaign playbook spreadsheets (metrics, assets, and outreach tracking).
  • Conduct relational outreach across each campaign’s pools — launch teams, endorsers, strategic leaders, churches, podcasts, blogs, bookstores, influencers, and events — with thorough, thoughtful follow-up on every contact.
  • Draft and schedule our weekly email newsletter in Mailchimp, adapting existing book content and author material into both value-focused and promotional emails (we follow a value-first ratio).
  • Keep campaign assets organized — things like purchase links, discount links, PDF samplers, and press kits — and make occasional, simple updates to oakspress.com, such as adding a coupon code or a redirect (we’ll show you how).
  • Occasionally place manual or bulk book orders using our simple step-by-step workflows, and follow up to make sure books arrive.
  • Provide sales-focused customer service to existing customers, including identifying and pursuing upsell and bulk-order opportunities.
  • Track outreach, sales, and campaign metrics; keep organized, reliable systems in Monday.com and Dropbox.

Characteristics

  • Takes initiative and owns outcomes with minimal oversight
  • Genuinely relational — warm, professional, and persistent with partners and authors
  • Detail-oriented and thorough, especially with follow-up
  • Proactive communicator and planner
  • Juggles several campaigns gracefully and handles change well
  • Believes in continuous improvement and a strong work ethic
  • Curious about new tools and methods, including AI — while keeping human creativity, direction, and review at the center of the work

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Interest in ministry, discipleship, and books by Christian authors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive outreach writing
  • Relationship-building and sales instincts — comfortable making asks of churches, podcasts, bookstores, and partners
  • Project management across parallel campaigns; able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with email marketing tools such as Mailchimp (drafting, scheduling, and reading basic performance data)
  • Comfortable learning to make simple website updates in WordPress/WooCommerce (coupon codes, redirects) — no prior experience required
  • Comfort with spreadsheets for goal and outreach tracking
  • Able to use task-management and cloud tools such as Monday.com and Dropbox
  • Highly open to leveraging AI in daily work (admin, operations, reports, communication, copywriting) without outsourcing decision-making, creativity, direction, or quality review to it
  • Working knowledge of order placement, fulfillment, and shipping processes is a plus

Education and Experience

  • Experience in a marketing, publicity, sales, or communications role
  • Experience working remotely and independently
  • 3+ years of professional experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred — equivalent hands-on campaign experience gladly considered in its place
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools for marketing work strongly preferred

Key Qualifications

  • Skills: relational outreach and publicity, email marketing, campaign project management, and sales-minded customer service
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Years of experience: 3+ preferred
  • AI-forward: eager to use AI as a tool, with human judgment leading

Compensation and Benefits

  • $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience
  • 8–12 hours per week, with a flexible schedule
  • Fully remote
  • Independent contractor (1099) engagement
  • Rate review after the first 90 days
